EU delivers protective equipment to deminers in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The European Union (EU) on Wednesday delivered a new batch of protective uniforms and safety equipment worth over 130,000 euros (151,400 U.S. dollars) to the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center (BHMAC) and the Civil Protection Administrations of both entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), further enhancing the safety and efficiency of nationwide demining operations.

The donation includes waterproof winter jackets, work pants, spring and autumn jackets, polo shirts, and protective footwear, all intended to safeguard demining personnel operating in mine-contaminated areas, which still cover about 1.6 percent of the country's territory. The equipment is part of a 10-million-euro EU-funded project that also provides vehicles and finances for mine clearance activities.
