A 250-pound bomb from the Second World War, discovered on Wednesday morning in the port of Hamburg, was successfully defused by the explosive ordnance disposal service of the fire brigade at around 5:20 p.m. in the afternoon.
All previously initiated closures around the site near Dock 12 of the Hamburg shipyard Blohm+Voss in the port of Kuhwerder would now be lifted, fire department spokesman Thorsten Kraatz told the Abendblatt. The bomb was recovered from the Elbe in the afternoon and then defused according to the usual procedure.
