The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) and the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 22 to collaborate on developing unmanned drones for mine action research and field operations—marking a step forward in Cambodia’s efforts to become free of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
Ly Thuch, First Vice President of the CMAA, said the agreement aligns with the government’s strategy to adopt modern technology that can speed up demining work while minimizing the risk of explosions. He added that Cambodia would continue to seek partnerships that strengthen human security.
