A bomb squad was called to a quiet village near Ashby today after suspected explosive materials were discovered in a garage at a house.
A man had been clearing out the property, in North Close, Blackfordby, and came across the materials, and suspecting they were explosives, he called the police.
Officers from Leicestershire police went to the scene along with firefighters from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and the army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers.
Some residents had to be evacuated from their homes and went to the village hall.
